Chapter F's Annual Polar Bear Ride

Chapter F has sponsored an annual Polar Bear Ride, held on New Years Day, for over 20 years. Weather permitting, participants meet at the McDonalds on Edwin C Moses Blvd. in Dayton, OH at 12:00PM and leave at 1:00PM and ride to a new destination each year. If we can't ride that day, we try every Sunday thereafter, until we can get the ride in SAFELY. This is always a fun time, and lots of folks look forward to bundling up, and getting out for a "short" ride to celebrate the New Year. Be sure to bring your "Electrics"! It has been known to be cold.

Annual Christmas Party

Each year, Chapter F sponsors a December Christmas Party, held at different locations. In the past, we have teamed up with other Chapters in our area to have a multi-chapter party, which has included music, solos and a sing along, karaoke for those that were daring enough to give it a try, dancing, great food, and LOTS of good times!!!!! Be sure to check the newsletters for current information regarding time and location.

Feed The Seniors

On the weekend before Christmas each year, Chapter F along with help from other Chapters and outside supporters, buy about one month's supply of groceries and distribute it to 10-12 needy seniors in the Fairborn area. This event has been taking place for several years now, and each year, proves to be more rewarding. We collect donations of canned goods and paper productions throughout the months of October and November. On the Saturday before Christmas, we all get together, have a carry-in meal, and sort canned goods into categories. That evening, we meet as a group at the Kroger Store on Dayton Yellow Springs Rd. in Fairborn, and shop for our Seniors. On Sunday, we meet back at the Kroger Store, load up our 80+ bags of groceries, and caravan to the homes of our recipients. Once we have finished, we all gather for dinner, some warm coffee, and share some laughs and good times, feeling very good about being able to give back during the Holiday Season.

2014: Our latest event was held 20-21 December 2014, where we adopted 12 local seniors. This year we broke our all-time spending record. Through hard work and with our sponsors' help, over $3,000 was spent towards Feed the Seniors. When our Treasurer signed the check at the grocery register, we all smiled and cheered.
We have an angel of a sponsor (who wishes to remain anonymous) and is a blessed spark of joy to us. Other sponsors included Deer Heating & Air, Curvin Miller & Ron Russell of Russell & Company, Prather, Igel Tax and Kroger. Our grateful thanks to them all!
One of our Seniors told us that others help her during the holidays and that she sometimes feels they did it for show. But she felt a genuine Christmas Joy through our donation and attention. That's what it's all about.
